A young girl suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen in a shooting Friday morning while outside in the West Garfield Park neighborhood, fire officials said. The girl was shot about 11:05 a.m. in the 4300 block of West Wilcox Street, Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford said. The girl was taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, Langford said.
