2 caught trying to escape Cook County Jail - They tied together a bunch of Tom Dart's toupees to lower themselves from window
Two Cook County Jail inmates from Chicago are facing attempted escape charges after they managed to pry open a metal grate and kick out a window in a medium security section of the jail, officials said today.
The incident happened at about 8:45 p.m. Thursday when a 22-year-old and a 38-year-old who had both been arrested six days ago decided to try and escape, said Frank Bilecki, a spokesman for Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart.
The 22-year-old man is awaiting trial on charges that he violated his parole and committed an aggravated battery. The 38-year-old is awaiting trial on charges that he committed a domestic battery, Bilecki said.
